Cleaning Lampshades in a Regular Basis
Lamps do not only add up to the comforting atmosphere in the bedroom, it is basically installed in the area to provide subtle but ample amount of lighting to a room. Having it around would mean that you need not suffer the usual glare that comes from turning on the fluorescent bulbs but at the same time, you will be provided with enough illumination to go about pre-slumber rituals like reading a book or using the laptop. Nevertheless, if you leave the lighting fixture untouched and uncleaned for quite sometime, the lampshades will collect dust. When that happens, not only will your lamp look old and dull, it may also have its lights blocked too. Indeed, you must clean the lampshade in a regular basis for it to efficiently live up to its purpose.
As you are about to clean the lamp, you have to turn off the light before removing the lampshade. In most cases, there is a turning mechanism on top of the shade and it has to be unscrewed. Sometimes, it may have a metal holder attached to the bulb and you can simply lift the shade off. After this, use a damp cloth to lift the dust off the lamp’s protective cover. If the item is too dusty, take it outside and use a feather duster to remove those dirty matter. Once this step is through, use a baby wipe to disinfect and remove the remaining particle rubbish off the shade. Start wiping the lamp cover in circular motion from the top down to the bottom. Afterwards, allow the lampshade to air dry before reuniting it with the lamp.
